From the Path: Today’s Reflections
I had plans for today. I was going to get up early, walk to another site I wanted to see, stop at the market on the way back, and find a place someone told me about for dinner. Instead, I woke up, put my feet on the floor, and immediately knew none of it was happening.
Everything hurt. Yesterday had been wonderful, and apparently I had celebrated that fact by completely exhausting myself. My legs were sore, my feet were angry, and even carrying my pack across the room sounded unreasonable. I sat on the edge of the bed looking at everything I had planned and felt genuinely annoyed with my own body.
I wanted to go! :( That was almost the worst part. The excitement was still there. I could picture exactly where I wanted to be, and some stubborn part of me kept insisting that I could push through it if I really wanted to. Eventually, I gave up arguing.
I ate slowly. I stretched. I washed some clothes and sat outside for a while with absolutely nowhere to be. At some point I started laughing at myself. Yesterday I had rushed through lunch because sitting still for thirty minutes felt like wasting time. Today I had been given an entire day to think about that decision. I still want to see everything I had planned. Just not today.

Artwork note
The artwork for this first edition of Quni Samiyuq was created with generative AI under my direction. I developed the concept, symbolism, composition, and visual direction for each card through an iterative process.
