Eight of Pututus

Dinner was louder than I expected tonight. I ended up sitting with several other travelers, and within minutes there seemed to be five conversations happening at once. Someone was telling me about a place I should visit. The woman beside me was asking where I had been yesterday. Someone across the table was talking about transportation. Another conversation started about Machu Picchu, and suddenly everyone had advice.

I kept trying to follow all of it. At one point someone asked me another question, and I realized I had absolutely no idea what they had said. I had been listening to the person beside them while simultaneously trying not to lose another conversation happening farther down the table.

Nothing was wrong. Everyone was friendly. There was simply too much information moving around me at once. Eventually I had to excuse myself for the evening to settle my mind.
