From the Path: Today’s Reflections

I got into an argument with the tour company today. The tour itself wasn't what I thought I had booked, and by the time we returned, I was frustrated enough that I went directly to the desk to talk to someone about it. I had the description pulled up on my phone and showed them exactly what I thought it said.

They showed me the same description and somehow read it completely differently. That was when the conversation went downhill. I kept trying to explain why I had expected something else. They kept explaining why I shouldn't have expected it. At some point we weren't even discussing the tour anymore. We were both defending our version of what had happened.

Eventually I realized neither of us was listening. I was waiting for them to stop talking so I could make my point again, and I'm fairly certain they were doing exactly the same thing. I walked away furious.

I'm still convinced I have a point. I'm also beginning to suspect that being right wasn't going to make either of us hear the other.

Artwork note

The artwork for this first edition of Quni Samiyuq was created with generative AI under my direction. I developed the concept, symbolism, composition, and visual direction for each card through an iterative process.
