Ten of Keros

Something happened tonight while I was looking through everything I've collected during this trip. My journal was open beside me, and I had spread a few things across the bed. A ticket from somewhere I visited days ago. A little piece of paper with someone's name written on it. A receipt from a meal I loved. None of these things seemed particularly important on their own.

Then I started reading some of my earlier journal entries. It was strange seeing how separate everything had felt while it was happening. The places I visited, the people I met, the conversations, the days that went beautifully and the ones that absolutely did not. Even the moments when I was homesick or overwhelmed belonged beside the moments when I couldn't imagine wanting to be anywhere else.

Tonight they don't feel separate anymore. I can see how one experience led me toward another. How something someone said stayed with me for days. How a disappointment changed what I chose next. How places I thought I was simply passing through became part of the way I understand this journey.

I think I'm finally beginning to see the thread running through all of it. I'm so grateful for each experience, each footstep, each raindrop, each rainbow, each bird overhead, each lizard that ran across my feet, the quiet breeze at the top of a mountain, and the rocks on my path back home.

All of it means something to me, today and in all the days to come.
