From the Path: Today’s Reflections
I overwhelmed myself today. I woke up with an entire day free in Cusco and somehow turned that freedom into a problem. I wanted to visit the market. I wanted to see another museum. Someone told me about a textile workshop I hadn't known about. There was a place outside the city I suddenly thought I absolutely had to see. Then I found a tour I could still book for the afternoon.
Every time I considered one thing, I thought about what I would lose by choosing it. I sat over breakfast moving things around on my phone, trying to create an impossible day in which somehow I could experience all of it. By the time I finally left, I had spent so much time deciding what I wanted that I was already frustrated.
I walked toward the market, changed my mind halfway there, and stopped on the sidewalk to look up the museum again. Then I remembered the textile workshop. I checked the time. I could still make it if I hurried. Maybe I could do the market afterward. Or skip the museum. Or move the tour to tomorrow.
I stood there staring at my phone while people moved around me. Eventually, I went to the market. It was crowded and colorful and exactly the kind of place I normally would have loved wandering through. But my mind kept wandering.
Should I have gone to the museum? Was I wasting too much time here? How late was the textile workshop open?
By the time I returned to my room that evening, I had gone to the market, rushed through the museum, missed the workshop entirely, and never booked the tour. There had been so much I wanted to do today. Somehow, I barely remember any of it.

Artwork note
The artwork for this first edition of Quni Samiyuq was created with generative AI under my direction. I developed the concept, symbolism, composition, and visual direction for each card through an iterative process.
