From the Path: Today’s Reflections

I met the sweetest little puppy today. I noticed him while I was walking through a small village. He was sniffing around the edge of the road and licking at little damp places in the dirt, and after watching him for a minute, I realized he was thirsty.

Of course, I immediately fell in love with him.

I called him over and pulled out my water bottle, but I didn't have anything he could drink from. So I crouched down, cupped my hand, poured some water into my palm, and held it out to him. He started drinking immediately. I filled my hand again, and then again, while water ran between my fingers and down my wrist.

He was so happy. His little tail was wagging, and when he finally wasn't thirsty anymore, he stayed beside me while I rubbed his head. I sat there with him for a while because I didn't want to leave yet. I even took his picture so I could remember his ridiculously cute little face.

I wanted to put him in my backpack and bring him home with me so badly. Probably not the wisest travel decision I've ever considered. But I loved those few minutes with him, and sharing what I had with this sweet little creature ended up being one of my favorite moments of the day.

Artwork note

The artwork for this first edition of Quni Samiyuq was created with generative AI under my direction. I developed the concept, symbolism, composition, and visual direction for each card through an iterative process.
