Two of Coca

I found a place above the valley today where I could sit alone. I had been walking for a while when the trail opened, and suddenly there was nothing between me and the mountains. Terraces followed the contours of the land below, the valley stretched into the distance, and everything seemed impossibly large.

I sat down and stayed there much longer than I intended. At some point I stopped looking at the landscape as something I had come to see. I could feel the stone underneath me and the sun warming one side of my face. My legs were tired from the climb. The mountains were no longer scenery. I was physically inside the same landscape I had been admiring. For a little while, there was simply the land and my body sitting upon it, keeping one another company.
